Lena Profitt dies at 77

      OROFINO - Lena Profitt, 79, Weippe, a resident of Idaho since 1902, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Lewiston. She had been a Patient 12 days.

     Mrs. Profitt was the widow of Leonard Profitt, who died in 1956.

     She was born Nov. 14., 1898, at San Francisco, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erick Olsen. She moved with her parents to the Teakean area in 1902, traveling first to Portland and by boat to Lewiston.

     Her father homesteaded in the Teakean area.

     She married Fred Freund in 1914 and they were later divorced. She married Profitt at Asotin April 14, 1933.

     Mr. and Mrs. Profitt lived for many years at Ahsahka, where he was a woodsworker.

     She moved to Weippe in 1961.

     She was a member of the Weippe Seventh Day Adventist Church.

     She is survived by four daughters, Bertha Clark, Orlando, Fla., Otelia Dickerson, Richland, Calif., Mary Zellerhoff, Lewiston, and Virginia Lee, Weippe; two Sons, Leo Profitt, Seattle, and Virgil Profitt, Kalispell, Mont., a stepdaughter, Ethel Slaton, Las Vegas; three stepsons, John Profitt, Baker, Ore., and Earl and Leonard Profitt, both of Lenore; and 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

     The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Orofino Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will be at the Teakean Cemetery.
